Sea of Galilee

Here's a photo diary of the day and a half I spent there doing something I rarely do - camping.
I am a city girl. Camping for me is VERY new.
There were bugs, it was very dirty, and there were no showers. It's just you (the people you are with), and the earth.
Just a few tips from my new experience: bug spray is a must, make sure you love the people you are going with - nothing sucks more then getting stuck with people you dislike even a bit, Evian facial water spray will save your life especially if there are no showers, wearing brighter colours and fun prints look amazing in contrast to the surroundings, bring boots even if it's summer, staying hydrated is the most important thing, wear sunscreen also when in the shade of the trees - I got burnt sitting in that 'shade', don't forget to pay attention to the smallest details nature has to offer such as tiny clam shells.

Now, a bit on the Sea of Galilee - aka the Kinneret. It's located in the northeastern corner of Israel, it's very much below sea level, it's connected to the Jordan River, and it's a fresh water lake surrounded by the Golan Heights and the city of Tiberias. It's also got quite stunning views.

No, this experience was not perfect. But now I feel like I have to camp again.
I am already planning on heading to the Dead Sea when the weather cools down a bit :)

Though yes, this was one hell of a way to celebrate my 19th birthday - thanks for all the wishes!!!
Love you all, hope you enjoy this photo diary/personal post xx

This looks so amazing! Even though I agree, camping can be dirty. I've only one it once, and while that was fun (there were showers), it will not become a regular way of passing vacations...

I'm also a serious city girl and my idea of camping involves running water and professional catering but I have to admit that this looks utterly divine. Sadly if I attempted to do the same thing in England I would probably develop pneumonia. Yet another reason to emigrate, hey? Lovely post and v cute sunglasses. X

happy birthday! this is some adventure to take on your birthday. I am no camper or outdoorsy for that matter, becoming one with nature would be a stretch for me. those are some killer boots! great picks to bring along.

I'm a city girl too...and although I like being in the nature, I hate bugs so much, so I don't think I'll ever go camping!you're brave! and I think that starting from a few days is ok, then you can build up!
Happy birthday!!

Great camping tips, I love how tough looking those boots are. Funny i'm not into camping but the serenity of the sea of Galilee is tempting.
Hope you had a happy birthday.
